Maria Mimick, violin, is an active performer recognized for her ability to easily cross over musical genres from classical to American traditional folk to pop.
Classically trained, with a degree in music from the University of Minnesota, Maria held the position of Principal Second Violin with the St. Louis Philharmonic Orchestra. She studied fiddle with Mark O’Connor in Nashville, TN, and has performed and recorded with Prague ’24, a klezmer band that blended the Eastern European Jewish musical tradition with the inspiration of American jazz.
Seasoned in congregational playing, Maria brings a distinctive voice as an experienced liturgical instrumentalist. She understands the role and importance of music in liturgy and the nuances of accompanying liturgical activity. She performs weekly as a musician with the Church of the Ascension, a multicultural Catholic Community in Minneapolis. MN.
